Lindsay Manion Finishes Second Overall

May 21, 2007

New Westminster, BC - The Douglas College Men's and Women's golf teams participated in the NWAACC Golf Championships hosted by Green River College this past weekend at the Washington National Golf Club.
Douglas College's Lindsay Manion made a statement as she participated in her first ever NWAACC Championships. After the first day of competition, Manion pushed all competitors to the brink, as she had set the pace for others to follow with a three stroke lead.
In an exciting finish that came down to the last hole, Manion was edged by Green River's Paige Gifford to finish second overall with a final score of 156.

"It was a great weekend for Lindsay," said Men's Golf Coach, Gert Van Niekerk. " I know Lindsay would have preferred a different outcome,"

The Semiahmoo graduate and Surrey native was the foundation of the women's golf program and had been one of the top golfers in all of the major NWAACC tournaments leading up to Championships. Manion's play caught the attention of several top U.S. schools who were on hand to watch the competition.
Lindsay was named to the All NWAACC Golf team.

For the men's team, the greens were not as friendly. The team finished 12th overall with a team score of 699.
