TESTING:

Each support staff position at Douglas College has specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities defined as part of the job and hiring criteria. A number of these criteria are routinely tested during the competition process. Testing is one of the steps and establishes that a c

andidate has the required basic skills for the position. Training on specific software is available through CEIT as well as at Microsoft Office.com

Skills which are often tested include:

• Word Processing - Word
• Spreadsheet - Excel
• Customer Service
• Keyboarding
• Administration Skills
• Data Entry
• Reading Comprehension

Tests have been established using criterion-related validity (the tests help to predict essential job performance characteristics).

Candidates may be required to take departmental tests to ensure competency in a specialized skill or program area.
