The
Bill Hughes Family Library at the New Westminster campus is the larger of the two libraries. It has extensive book, periodical and media collections that support the research needs of Douglas College students and the college community in general. The Library has a commitment to using technology to maximize access to information and offers a wide array of electronic products. The Library has a professional team of librarians who play a leadership role in the use of library technology and the teaching of library research skills.
The David Lam campus library is located at the Coquitlam campus and was opened in September 1996. The library incorporates the latest in computer equipment and software. While the goal is to have a self-sufficient collection that supports courses offered at the David Lam campus, students are also able to have quick access to the resources at the New Westminster campus library.
The Douglas College Library's mission is to serve as an essential academic centre by:
- providing student-centred services, collections, physical facilities and personnel that encourage learning, exploration and the exchange of ideas
- providing leadership in the exploration and application of new information technology
- participating in College-wide, local, provincial and national collaborative efforts
- delivering coordinated programs of progressive and sophisticated information literacy skill development
- extending its services and collections beyond the confines of its physical location
