How to apply

ESL

There are several steps to follow in enrolling in a Douglas College ESL class:

  1. Apply to Douglas College. When your application is accepted you will receive a student number.
  2. If you are an international student, see the special admission information for international students.

  3. Write an ESL assessment test. Contact the ESL department at 604-527-5463 at the New Westminster campus or 604-777-6196 at the David Lam, Coquitlam campus to make an appointment for the ESL assessment test. The ESL assessment test and an individual interview with an ESL instructor will determine which courses are most appropriate for a student to register for.

  4. Register in the ESL courses. All registration at Douglas College is done over the Web. Approximately a month prior to registration, you will receive a card in the mail reminding you to check the Douglas College website for details of course offerings as well as the date and time that you can register. Registration is done on a first-come, first-served basis. Fees must be paid on time or you will be de-registered. Financial assistance may be available. Contact the Student Finance Office at 604-527-5487 for information.
